DMV AFROBEATS FESTIVAL
Afrobeats, a contemporary music genre originating from Africa and rapidly gaining worldwide popularity, is not only a reflection of our multicultural society.
The milestone is an acknowledgement of the road travelled by Afrobeats, a loose grouping of many sounds within Africa with influences by the Black diaspora, that has now spread from dance floors in Lagos to elsewhere beyond the continent including the music scenes of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. Listened to and enjoyed by a majority of the African American population in the DMV and fast growing amongst other population, the DMV Afrobeats Festival is one sure way of re-igniting the unity amongst its people.
