I had a great visit to Prince George’s County, Maryland, where I had an insightful discussion with Mr. Samuel Iwu, Director of Multicultural Affairs, Office of the County Executive, regarding the County’s support for the Lagos DMV Afrobeats Festival, set to take place on May 25, 2025. This conversation followed the directive of Ms. Tara Jackson, Acting County Executive, emphasizing the County’s commitment to cultural diversity and economic collaboration.
Mr. Iwu reaffirmed that Prince George’s County is ready to support the festival, recognizing its significance in celebrating African heritage and strengthening cultural ties between Africa and the diaspora. During the meeting, he also graciously received the commemorative plaque on behalf of Prince George’s County, marking its role as the host county for this landmark event.
Also present were Mr. Mayomi Alebiosu, Founder/CEO of North America African Culture Diversity Inc. (NAACD), the organizer of the festival, along with Mr. Taiwo Osijo, Executive Director, Media/Publicity for the Lagos DMV Afrobeats Festival.
With the continued support of Prince George’s County, we are confident that the Lagos DMV Afrobeats Festival will be a resounding success, uniting communities through music, culture, and business opportunities. Exciting times ahead!
