Lagos, Nigeria – February 2025 – The Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, warmly received a delegation from the North America African Culture Diversity Inc. (NAACD) at the Lagos State Government House to discuss the title sponsorship of the highly anticipated Lagos DMV Afrobeats Festival. The festival is set to take place on May 25, 2025, at Prince George’s Stadium (Baysox) in Bowie, Maryland, USA.

The delegation, led by Mayomi Alebiosu, Founder and CEO of NAACD, engaged in fruitful discussions with Governor Sanwoolu about the festival’s significance in promoting tourism, arts, and culture between Nigeria and its diaspora community. The Governor expressed his profound gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing its role in strengthening ties between Nigerians at home and abroad while showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Lagos State.

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Oladapo Ogunyinka and Mr. Adelani Adekintan, International Coordinators (Nigeria) of the DMV Afrobeats Festival; Dr. Segun Awosanya, NAACD Consultant; and Mr. Agboola Dabiri, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Central Business District.

Governor Sanwoolu commended the organizers for their commitment to bridging the cultural gap and reaffirmed his administration’s support for initiatives that enhance Lagos State’s global cultural influence. He noted that the Lagos DMV Afrobeats Festival aligns with the state’s mission to promote Lagos as a cultural and entertainment hub on the international stage.

The Lagos DMV Afrobeats Festival is expected to attract a diverse audience of music lovers, artists, and cultural enthusiasts from across North America and beyond. The event will serve as a platform for African artists and entertainers to showcase their talents, celebrate African heritage, and foster stronger connections between Nigeria and the diaspora.
